Oilers Preseason: Tulsa drops two in Odessa.

ODESSA, TX – The Tulsa Oilers are off to a slow start in the preseason, losing two in Odessa to the Jackalopes.

The Oilers took the ice for the first of the two games on Thursday night and quickly fell behind 3-0 through the first two periods and being outshot 30-15.  Tulsa came alive on the power-play, scoring two goals at the hands of R.J. Linder and Jeff Marshall.  Oilers goalie Kevin Armstrong played the full game between the pipes, stopping 39 shots.

Tulsa looked to reverse their fortunes on Saturday night again facing the Jackalopes.  Unfortunately, after staying mostly even with Odessa for most of the game former Oiler forward Paul Kelly netted the game winner for the Jacks with 10:45 to play in the 3rd period.  Mike Beausoleil netted the Oilers only marker in the game.  Kevin Armstrong again played a full game in the net, stopping 27 of 29 shots.

Now coach Bruce Ramsay can get down to the business of trimming the team down to the obligatory 18 skaters and a goalie required by the CHL to start the season, which for the Oilers will begin on the road in Mississippi against the Riverkings on October 16th.  Tulsa opens the home schedule on October 24th in the BOK Center against the Wichita Thunder.

Coach Ramsay will host a “hockey happy hour” at Indigo Joes Sports Pub and Grill at 104th and Memorial on Monday night beginning at 6:30pm.  All of the players will be in attendance.  The happy hour will precede the internet broadcast of Coach Ramsay’s show from 7-8pm.

Tickets for all of the Oilers games are now on sale at the Oilers office located on 46th street between Mingo and Memorial, at the BOK Center ticket office or at tulsaoilers.com.
