Relient K Plays Cain’s Thursday

altAward-winning Relient K will be playing the Cain’s Ballroom on Thursday.

The group has sold more than 2 million albums and is known for their Christian music, although they also play with secular artists. They received a Grammy Award nomination in 2003 for Best Rock Gospel Album and have won two Dove Awards.

The group, formed in 1998 in Ohio, broke into the mainstream with their 2004 album, Mmhmm, which debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200. Their fifth album – Five Score and Seven Years Ago – was their biggest commercial success, selling 60,000 copies the first week and debuting at #6 on the Billboard 200.

The band consists of Matt Hoopes (guitars, vocals), John Warre (bass, vocals), Matthew Thiessen (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Ethan Luck (drums, vocals), and Jon Schneck (guitar, banjo, vocals)

The band is named after Hoopes’ old car, which was a Plymouth Reliant K. The spelling was changed to alter any trademark infringement over the Reliant name.

Advanced tickets are $21 and $22 the day of the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
