Daryl Hall and John Oates are bringing their 2010 Do What You Want, Be What You Are Tour to green countries newest music venue, The Joint. If you have been a longtime fan or a possibly a new-comer, this show is sure to entertain you and your friends Friday night.
Daryl Hall and John Oates have been a pop music duo since 1969 but their greatest fame came during the 70’s through the mid 80’s. Both Hall and Oates sing and are multi-instrumentalists. They had six #1 hits on Billboard Hot 100; “Rich Girl”, “Kiss on My List”, “Private Eyes”, “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)”, “Maneater” and “Out of Touch”. The duo also had many other top 40 hits during the height of their fame. Hall and Oates have a rock & blues infused sound with elements of new wave and hard rock. The songs have strong hooks and melodies which is why they still sound just as relevant today.
In more recent years, a 4-CD box set was released on October 13, 2009, titled Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall and John Oates. This set represents the most comprehensive hits collection by the duo as it includes songs from various labels. Also included are three songs recorded by Hall and Oates with their earlier bands prior to their forming Hall & Oates officially, as a duo.
For the 33.2 million viewers of American Idol, they were able to see Hall and Oates appear on the American Idol Finale, May 26th, 2010 performing “You Make My Dreams”. Daryl Hall and John Oates were also recently named one of the 100 Greatest Artist of All Time by VH1 coming in at 99, right behind Alicia Keys.
