The Beach Boys play Tulsa Sept. 30

The Beach Boys’ music defined a generation and continues to captivate new listeners with a variety of hits about fast cars, surfing and summer love. On Sept. 30, one of America’s most iconic and most celebrated bands is coming to The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

Tickets start at $40 and go on sale Aug. 18.

Since forming in 1961, The Beach Boys have released 28 studio albums and an astounding 82 singles, including 36 that peaked in the Top 40 with four becoming No. 1 hits. The band’s chart-toppers are “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” “Good Vibrations” and “Kokomo,” which was recorded for the “Cocktail” soundtrack and became the band’s biggest single, selling more than 1 million copies and earning platinum certification in 1989.

Other Top 10 singles include “Surfin’ USA,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “California Girls,” “Barbara Ann” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” which is featured on the 1966 album “Pet Sounds.” The album has been labeled as one of the most influential in American music, and Rolling Stone ranked it No. 2 on its list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”

The band has received numerous highly touted honors, including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked the Beach Boys No. 12 on its list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”

The Beach Boys most recent release is 2009’s “Summer Love Songs,” which is the band’s 34th compilation.
