Oilers sign two goalies

altKeserich returns, former SPHL net minder also signed.

TULSA, OK– Tulsa Oilers Head Coach Bruce Ramsay announced the signing of two goalies to his 2011-12 squad on Tuesday, August 9th, one that Tulsa fans will readily recognize and a new face from down South.

Returning to the Oilers is Ian Keserich who set a personal high last season with 22 wins and a record of 22-10-4 and supporting a solid .913 save percentage, Ian Keserich was a key catalyst in turning the fortune of the Oilers around, going undefeated in his last 11 games of the 2010-11 season with a 9-0-2 record. One of the greatest games turned in by an Oiler goalie occurred on February 19th in Wichita where Ian stopped 52 of 53 shots and was unstoppable in securing a 5-1 victory for the Oilers.

Bruce Ramsay, the Head Coach of the Tulsa Oilers, is extremely excited to have Ian Keserich back with the Oilers family, “Ian had a tremendous season and we were extremely fortunate to be able to acquire such a quality goalie during the 2010-11 season. The upcoming season will be Ian`s fifth season as a pro yet he is only 25 years old and I firmly believe that he is only going to improve exponentially as he gets older.”

Coming to the Tulsa Oilers from the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL is netminder Mike Spillane. Last season, Mike played 23 games for the FireAntz where he supported a 2.42 GAA and a .926 save percentage which put him number one in the league in both categories. Mike played 4 years at the annual powerhouse University of Vermont and was a graduate of the Omaha Lancers of the USHL where he gained a record of 27-10-7 along with a 2.30 GAA and .918 SV % which put him 4th in the league for goalies.

“Mike is an extremely motivated individual who has competed at some of the top levels of amateur hockey in the United States and performed admirably and is ready to make the next step to the AA level. With these two signings, we have a great 1-2 punch in goal, thus solidifying one of the most important and difficult positions to fill,”

Season tickets are now on sale for the Tulsa Oilers 2011-12 season, which will be the Oilers 20th year in the Central Hockey League. For more information contact the Oilers office at 918 632 PUCK (7825).
