KJRH gathers two Emmys

KJRHLogoKJRH 2NEWS Works for You received two Emmys for outstanding work at the 27th Annual Heartland Regional Emmy Awards presented by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).  The awards were held Saturday July 13th at the Seawell Grand Ballroom in Denver while a simultaneous presentation occurred at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Nigh Center in Edmond. 2NEWS Works for You won in the categories of Best Morning/Daytime Newscast and Best Children/Youth/Teen Program.

The “2 Works for You against Bullying” primetime program won an award for Best Children/Youth/Teen Program.  The half-hour special examined the growing problem of bullying and its brutal impact on our local community and what is being done to prevent it.  It was produced and anchored by 2NEWS Anchor Russ McCaskey and featured news stories produced and reported by 2NEWS Reporters Michelle Lowry, Breanne Palmerini, Justin Wilfon and Sara Goldenberg and Multimedia Journalists John Guthery, Dennis Meister, and Jim Doutt.

KJRHLogoLg2NEWS Today won an Emmy for “Best Morning/Daytime Newscast” for the September 5th 2012 coverage of the “Barnard School Fire” in which a local elementary school burned to the ground in a devastating fire that took over 5 hours for firefighters to contain. The winning newscast was anchored by 2NEWS Anchors Justin Wilfon and Deana Silk, and featured field reporting by 2NEWS Dan Pearlman and Multimedia Journalists John Guthery, Mark Rains, and Jim Doutt. It was produced and edited by Kylie Frakes, Stephanie Carr and Drew Barker.

The Heartland Chapter honors the work of television and media professionals in 11 DMAs and includes stations from Denver, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Wichita, Colorado Springs, Omaha, Lincoln, Topeka, and Grand Junction. The Heartland division is just one of nineteen different Chapters of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) that and recognizes the exceptional work done in 100 categories, from News and Promotions, to Crafts, Programs and Student Achievement.
