Analysis: Presidential candidate and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson shows appropriate national leadership in reacting to news that the gunman who killed nine individuals at an Oregon community college Thursday specifically targeted Christians.
According to witnesses, the shooter lined his victims up and asked each of them to state their faith. If they answered that they were Christian, the gunman fatally shot them. According to one survivor, Christians were shot in the head while those who didn’t declare a faith were shot in the legs.
Editorial: Multiple OKC media are reporting that the Oklahoma Republican Party has offered a home for the Ten Commandments Monument that will be removed soon from state Capitol grounds under a court order.
NewsOK.com reports “it’s not at all clear the state will accept the GOP offer.”
Tulsa Today suggests the offer should be accepted. Political parties stand on principles and the Ten Commandments have long been a part of the Oklahoma GOP platform in dramatic contrast with Democrats who booed God three times live on national television at their last national convention.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) Monday delivered a speech on the Senate floor highlighting the many examples of Republican leadership surrendering to President Obama’s demands, including funding Planned Parenthood and the catastrophic Iran nuclear deal. Sen. Cruz’s speech followed an attempt to permit a vote on his amendment to end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and the Iranian nuclear deal. His colleagues refused to allow him the courtesy of a roll-call vote on his motion, which would have allowed for consideration of his amendment.
The video is embedded here with the text of Sen. Cruz’s remarks and while he makes many considerable points with wisdom, Tulsa Today’s favorite jewel is at the end which highlights leadership. He said, “I ask unanimous consent that my time be extended…The Democrats are objecting to my speaking further, and both the Democrats and Republican leadership are objecting to the American people speaking further. I yield the floor.”
Ben Carson, in an interview with CNN anchor Jake Tapper, defined the difference politely between Islam and the U.S. Constitution.
It is established fact that Sharia Law, required in Muslim countries and of individual followers worldwide, is an inseparable unity of; law, government, and religion directly contrary to Common Law and the U.S. Constitution which both separate the three.
Carson was asked to clarify an earlier statement saying he would “have problems with somebody who embraced all the doctrines associated with Islam.”
