Just after Elon Musk bought Twitter, promising more freedom, the Biden administration announces a new government agency to “protect” Americans and the world from harmful disinformation, especially about the COVID pandemic.
It is called the Disinformation Governance Board, although some would call it the Minitrue, short for Ministry of Truth, the ministry of propaganda in George Orwell’s novel 1984. The abbreviation differs from KGB by only one letter.

State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd spoke last week at a training seminar on governmental open records requests while being sued for her failure to comply with an open records request made against her office. It would be humorous if not so sad and, potentially, unlawful in Oklahoma.
Byrd has refused to fully comply with an open records request made back in 2020 that asked for any documentation or communication between her and Andrew Speno, a State Auditor employee who has also worked as her campaign consultant.

In a Breitbart.com exclusive today, Rep. Keven Hern (R-OK 1 Dist.) announced he is making a contested bid for Republican Study Committee Chairman to replace Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) as the leader of the largest caucus of House Republicans.
As the Breitbart story notes, “as Banks will be term-limited as the chairman, Hern hopes to lead the 150-plus member conference into a House Republican majority that would continue Banks’s legacy of making the RSC a preeminent organization within the House Republican Conference.

April 21 at the Tulsa County Republican Women’s Club Candidate Forum, I passed the various tables talking to candidates when Tulsa County Commissioner District 3 Candidate Bob Jack caught my eye.
I greeted, “Hello Bobby, are you still the authoritarian I remember?”
Jack said, “Yes, yes I am.”
“Well, that’s not going to work,” I replied.
“I’m going to win,” Jack declared. I disagreed with him directly at the time and here is why.

The clock is ticking! State legislative leaders must craft a budget by Friday, May 27. On its face, the budget for the next fiscal year would seem simple, because there is so much extra cash to work with. Revenue estimates indicate more than $10 billion is available for spending, but nobody really knows what our current stable revenue base is.
At the moment, the state of Oklahoma is awash in “funny” money due to the massive amount of stimulus funding provided by the Federal government during the COVID pandemic.
