Senate Approves Lankford Bill Lie

Thursday, the United States Senate approved the Historic Greenwood District—Black Wall Street National Monument Establishment Act by unanimous consent. The legislation will designate a huge national monument area around the Historic Greenwood District of North Tulsa.

Sen. Lankford claims this is were a “Massacre took place” but apparently he has been so busy pandering for votes after being repeatedly censored and rejected by Republicans in Oklahoma over his misguided open borders policies that he has failed to find the truth.

There was an “armed civil insurrection” or “civil war” in 1921 here but there was never a massacre or even a lynching in Tulsa.

This sign on Tulsa’s Greenwood Avenue is a lie: not how the conflict started nor proceeded. Truth should matter.

Reactions to St. Isidore v. Drummond

Today, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a 4-4 per curium opinion in St. Isidore v. Drummond, a case involving the Oklahoma Charter School Board’s approval of St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School for inclusion as a charter-school. First Liberty Institute represents Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters, the State Board of Education, and the State Department of Education.

“Allowing the exclusion of religious schools from our charter school program in the name of 19th century religious bigotry is wrong,” said Superintendent Walters. “As state superintendent, I will always stand with parents and families in opposition to religious discrimination and fight until all children in Oklahoma are free to choose the school that serves them best, religious or otherwise.”

U.S. Holding the WHO Accountable

WASHINGTON, DC— Today in a release with video remarks aired during the Seventy-Eighth World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. defended the Trump Administration’s intent to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO) and shared his vision for the future of global health.

“Like many legacy institutions, the WHO has become mired in bureaucratic bloat, entrenched paradigms, conflicts of interest, and international power politics,” said Secretary Kennedy. “While the United States has provided the lion’s share of the organization’s funding historically, other countries such as China have exerted undue influence over its operations in ways that serve their own interests and not particularly the interests of the global public.”

Responsible Budgeting Oklahoma

This legislative session, we agreed on a budget that reflects both fiscal responsibility and strong support for Oklahoma families. It cuts taxes to return more money to hardworking Oklahomans, while also investing in the things that matter most to everyday families: education, safety and long-term stability.

At the heart of this budget is a simple promise that we will protect taxpayers while caring for the most vulnerable among us.

In this budget, we’ve increased public education funding by adding $25 million to the common education funding formula. We’re also covering an $88.5 million increase in flexible benefit costs for school personnel and setting aside $5 million to help provide paid maternity leave for teachers. These are meaningful investments in the people we trust to educate and care for our children every day.
