The historic series with the Cowboys will highlight an already notable season for the Evangels. This is the team’s inaugural season in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Evangels overall record is 10-28; however, they have won three of their last five games.
"Our baseball team cannot wait for this moment," Blackwell said. "We know we have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this opportunity. We hope to represent our University with class and give our future teams an opportunity to do this again."
Regardless of the outcome, both schools deserve a tip of the hat from all Oklahomans. OSU officials earn praise for playing in-state smaller schools and MACU for standing tall to accept strong competition.
Best of luck to both as it reminds Tulsa Today editors of the old saying, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight that counts, but the size of the fight in the dog.”
Congratulations and a hearty “good game” to the Mid-America Christian University’s men’s baseball team that will face its first NCAA Division I opponent tonight when it meets Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
The Cowboys invited Mid-America Christian University to a two-game series to be played at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 22 at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
"This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I am very excited for our team," said MACU Coach Jason Blackwell. "Our boys will remember this for the rest of their lives."
