Cotton forecast down

Oklahoma cotton production is forecast at 90,000 bales (480 pound net weight bale), according to the Oklahoma Crop Production report issued Friday by the USDA-NASS Oklahoma Field Office a drop of 14 percent from last month. 

The report notes production 79 percent below last year. An average yield of 432 pounds per acre is expected from 100,000 harvested acres.

Utilized pecan production in Oklahoma is forecast at 9 million pounds, down 55 percent from last year’s 20 million pounds.

Improved pecans comprised 2.3 million pounds while native and seedling pecans accounted for 6.7 million pounds.
