Oklahoma Guardian 2.0 Launch

UPDATED: The launch of Guardian 2.0, Oklahoma’s next-generation campaign finance & public reporting system will happen – someday in October officials say. It did not happen when promised October 1 and now the public and candidates for office have no exact date for this important ethics system launch. The old Guardian system has been shut down.  The “fast-paced” development effort began in early 2025 by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.

While the system is being delayed, officials declare the delay is to ensure data accuracy and system readiness. Media and all Oklahomans depend on this system to monitor ethics activity.

Improvements promised include a mobile-friendly user interface and capability to host local campaign finance reports, which currently are only accessible in some jurisdictions in-person. Senate Bill 890, enacted in May, gave the Ethics Commission exclusive authority over most county and municipal campaign finance reporting.

All Political Committees next Contribution and Expenditure 3rd Quarter reports are due Oct. 1-31, and Executive Only Lobbyists reports are due Oct. 15th. The old Guardian system, which launched in 2014, has been offline since Sept. 19 as staff prepared to launch the revamped version. Click here for more information. The Ethics Commission has scheduled five in-person and virtual training sessions for October.
