Hat-trick lifts Revs over Oxford City
By Rich Lohman, Tulsa Today
TULSA, OK—Cristian Mata scored three goals in an 8-5 Tulsa Revolution victory over Oxford City FC on Friday night in the Cox Business Center. It was arguably the best game in the short history of the Revolution franchise as Head Coach Dave Yates young team got started scoring goals early and often.
The Revs were on the board less than a minute into the match as Sam Guernsey booted the home team’s first goal into the net. Mata added his first goal less than two minutes later, and by the seven minute mark of the first quarter the Revolution had roared out to a 3-nil advantage when Bryant Scrapper scored with Mata assisting.

TU runs the Mustangs
By Rich Lohman, Tulsa Today
TULSA, OK—TU quarterback Dane Evans threw five touchdown passes and Keevan Lucas crossed into the 1,000 yard club on the way to a 38-28 Golden Hurricane victory over SMU on Saturday afternoon. Some 14,269 fans saw the Golden Hurricane (2-7, 2-4 American) take control of the game in the second quarter and never look back.
It was an inelegant start, however.
After TU went three-and-out on their first possession the visitors took their first play from scrimmage and scored on a 64-yard strike from SMU quarterback Matt Davis to Der’rrik Thompson to give the Mustangs a 6-0 lead, their first lead of the season and what would be their only lead of the game.
Mavericks edge Tulsa
By Rich Lohman, Tulsa Today
TULSA, OK— The last minute of the game between the Tulsa Oilers and the Missouri Mavericks was a blur of flying pucks, swinging sticks and frantic skating, but even with goalie Kevin Carr pulled to give the home team an extra man, the efforts fell short as the Mavericks topped the Oilers 5-4 in front of 3,202 in the BOK Center on Tuesday night.
The loss was the Oilers second loss in regulation this season and their first regulation loss on home ice.
