Sooners steamroll TU

TUFootballOU1TULSA, OK— There weren’t a lot of positives one could pull from the 52-7 loss the TU Golden Hurricane suffered at the hands of the fourth ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday afternoon in H.A. Chapman Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but there were a few.

For one thing, the attendance was just 643 away from a full sellout at 29,357 on a wet and cool pre-fall afternoon, but that is tangential to a few facts about the game that will very likely go unnoticed due to the ridiculously lopsided number of points on the scoreboard.

Russell wins bid for 5th District

SteveRussellSteve Russell, a retired U.S. Army officer who stressed his faith, military experience, and constitutional principles defeated Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Patrice Douglas Tuesday to stand as the Republican candidate in the general election for Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District.

Russell will face Democrat Al McAffrey in the November general election in his effort to succeed Rep. James Lankford in Congress. Most pundits give Russell the best odds to win as the the seat is expected to be retained by Republicans.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D., Nev.) refusal to permit a key defense bill from coming to a vote is endangering U.S. troops around the world and allowing terror groups to gain strength, according to Sen. Jim Inhofe (R., Okla.), who is spearheading a new campaign to expose Reid’s dangerous behavior.

The entire U.S. defense apparatus, as well as the U.S. military, depends on a key yearly spending bill known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a piece of legislation that outlines and funds the nation’s national security priorities.

Woman goes EPIC ranting on illegals

BernadetteLancelinRantThe Right Scoop has posted a local news video of a Houston woman in an EPIC rant about unaccompanied illegals – “Why can’t they go back?”

Bernadette Lancelin is very upset that the unaccompanied minors flooding across the border aren’t being sent back home. Instead they are being put in detention centers around the country. Lancelin is out with the local news in Houston because a closed middle school that hasn’t been used in years is now on the list to become another detention center. And she, among others, is furious about it.

It is difficult to count so many ways that Tulsa Today appreciates Charles Krauthammer.  He has a talent for straight speaking that reminds us of Will Rogers, but with a bit less pure entertainment.

Having worked for both sides of the isle, Krauthammer is refreshingly direct as he delivers fundamental fact.  In this case, he describes President Obama’s nature contrary to that of what anyone would expect.
