Greater Grace Temple will present its annual choir workshop March 23-25. This year’s featured guest artist is Jonathan Dunn. Bishop Dr. Donald O’Neil Tyler and his wife, First Lady Marcia Tyler – Greater Grace’s leading couple – will host the three-day event.
Dunn’s most recent album, “The Flow,” keeps his native Ohio on the map with an urban R&B groove created in pursuit of the pure message of the Gospel. Dunn, a serene minister of music devoted to the gospel of Jesus Christ and committed to being a “world-changer,” has previously worked with worship sensation Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker, Marvin Winans and the late James Moore, among others. Dunn and Sapp collaborated on the smash hit “Standing on the Rock,” a track featured on the WOW Gospel 2003 collection.
Known for creating an atmosphere for worship, Dunn has an outstanding testimonial of triumph and perseverance which is evident in his music. His previous albums include “Another Level” and “And Another Level.” He has also made guest appearances on TBN, as well as other local and national television broadcast networks.
With more than 700 members, Greater Grace Temple is currently one of the largest churches in North Tulsa – and growing. The ministry has served as a spiritual shelter for the northside community and provides a positive image of where North Tulsa is headed. Greater Grace offers a homeownership program, to encourage minorities that purchasing a home is a healthier and more prosperous journey than renting, and the church’s annual blood drive through the American Red Cross is recognized as the largest in the city.
The youth ministry is one of the main focuses at Greater Grace. Youth programs include trips to Branson, Dallas, Six Flags and Frontier City, and a number of youth workshops and retreats. Greater Grace’s Nike shoe giveaway encourages children to take the “right steps” toward their future. The church has also incorporated a full-service computer lab with an ACT program to help students study and increase their SAT scores, and offers regular tutoring nights.
Greater Grace’s pastor, Dr. Donald O’Neil Tyler, recently received the 66er’s NBAD award for his contribution to the community. He has been affiliated with Tulsa mayor Kathy Taylor on several community projects, and has been recognized by the NAACP and the Ministerial Alliance in his efforts to bring a struggling community together.
