South Lewis, 81st Street is hot spot for “Tulsa Race for the Cure”

The tenth annual Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation “Race for the Cure” takes place near 8100 South Lewis Avenue on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.  More than 10,000 people are expected to attend this breast cancer research fundraiser event.

Several streets will be closed at various times on Saturday, in order to accommodate the event’s viewers and participants.  The staging area – 81st Street between Lewis Avenue and Delaware Avenue – will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the Start and Finish Lines. 

The eastbound lanes of

81st Street

between

Lewis Avenue

and

Riverside Parkway

and

Riverside Parkway

between

75th Street

and

91st Street

will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the timed (8 a.m.) and untimed (9:15 a.m.) 5km runs.

 

For the one-mile Fun Run, the westbound lanes of

81st Street

between

Lewis Avenue

and

Riverside Parkway

will be closed from 9:25 a.m. to 9:55 a.m.

 

As it does during such special events, the Tulsa Police Department is urging drivers not coming to watch or participate in the event to avoid the area, if possible.
