Editorial: We live by trust. We drive the roads, labor, raise children, pay taxes all in trust that others are operating by the same rules. Rules of the road and laws of the land apply to rich, poor, powerful or powerless equally according to the Constitution.
Such trust for hundreds of thousands of Americans has been destroyed by Barack H. Obama within his first 100 days in office. Beyond any specific policy, lack of trust could damn to failure the Obama Administration so why are they not more forthcoming?
Never have so many individual Americans publicly protested as they did in the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Parties April 15 … so early into a new presidential administration. Never have so many Americans rushed to buy guns despite Obama’s repeated promises not to seize or restrict gun sales. Apparently, huge numbers of Americans don’t believe Obama is a man of his word.
Howard Fineman of Newsweek wrote of Obama, "Swimming in the middle, he’s denounced as a socialist by conservatives, criticized as a polite accommodationist by government-is-the-answer liberals, and increasingly, dismissed as being in over his head by technocrats." Obama did not campaign on policy specifics, but glittering generalities. He criticized the administration before him on purely emotional grounds campaigning on Liberal rage, race and celebrity. It could be said that he won national votes in the same fashion as Hitler and Mussolini. Using “crisis” for convenience, he is growing Federal power beyond Constitutional authority and expanding Federal spending beyond sanity. One might question by his recent actions if he is anti-Constitutional rather than a Constitution driven Attorney/Professor.
Obama is, by understated word and recent deeds, a dedicated socialist apparently ignorant of American history who shows great disdain for individual freedom. He praises and panders to Fascists, Communists, and, in a first for an American President, bowed to a foreign King. He is the “Appeaser and Chief.” Beyond Obama’s lack of love for liberty worldwide, Michelle Obama stated twice during the campaign she had no pride in America before her husband’s rise to power.
Obama betrayed his promise to bring the first “post-partisan post-racial” administration. According to The Wall Street Journal, “Tuesday April 21, 2009 is the moment that any chance of a new era of bipartisan respect in Washington ended. By inviting the prosecution of Bush officials for their anti-terror legal advice, President Obama has injected a poison into our politics that he and the country will live to regret.
“Policy disputes, often bitter, are the stuff of democratic politics,” the Wall Street Journal wrote. “… until now, the U.S. political system has avoided the spectacle of a new Administration prosecuting its predecessor for policy disagreements. This is what happens in Argentina, Malaysia or Peru, countries where the law is treated merely as an extension of political power.” To read the full article, click here.
For average Americans, it is the almost inconceivably huge amounts of spending and increasing government limitation of freedom that most offends. The TEA Parties were proof that Americans “get” checkbook issues – no individual or nation can buy their way to prosperity. Writing checks or printing money without a base of value crashes all civilized life – individually or nationwide.
U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, M.D. (R-OK) an avowed friend of Obama, in a released statement April 23 said, “Taxpayers are fed up with Washington’s bail outs and boondoggles that are bankrupting our nation. It is shameful that not a single member of Congress read the $1.2 trillion stimulus bill before it was hastily approved by Congress and signed by the President. Before we ask the American people to pay another cent for an inefficient program or we borrow another dollar from future generations, we have an obligation to ensure that we are not wasting precious resources that could be better spent by families across our nation.
“Congress is about to pass a $3.5 trillion budget for 2010 and estimates show less than half of that in total revenue for the same year. Without removing the over $300 billion that is lost to waste, fraud or abuse every year, Congress is jeopardizing our nation’s future. Congress must start setting the priorities the same way families across the country must. We can help President Obama keep his pledge to rid the government of its excessive waste,” said Dr. Coburn.
Liberalism’s economic policy foundation is to control capital (all money) and the means of production (all business). Although this type of approach has repeatedly been proven as a failure worldwide, it is oh so appealing to embittered uneducated welfare beneficiaries reproducing like rabbits at taxpayer expense. Class warfare is working for Democrats.
Liberals praise Franklin D. Roosevelt’s economic policies, but on May 9, 1939 Henry Morgenthau, Jr., the secretary of the treasury, close friend, confidant of Roosevelt and one of the most powerful men in America at the time, spoke before his fellow Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee saying, “We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work … We have never made good on our promises … I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started … and an enormous debt to boot.” (Chapter 1 Page 2, “New Deal or Raw Deal?” by Burton Folsom, Jr.)
Folsom writes further, “In these words, Morgenthau summarized a decade of disaster, especially during the years Roosevelt was in power. Indeed average unemployment for the whole year in 1939 was higher than that in 1931, the year before Roosevelt captured the presidency from Herbert Hoover.”
According to a March 2009 Congressional Budget Office estimate, Obama’s budget will produce a staggering $9.3 trillion in total deficits over the next decade, much more than the White House has promised the American people.
President Obama’s budget director, Peter R. Orszag, conceded in a news briefing that annual deficits of four to five percent of gross domestic product, as envisioned in the office’s report, are "ultimately not sustainable."
"Not sustainable" means the economy ends and you had better be good at growing your own food and protecting your own family.
Thus economic trust dissolves and the result can be seen in the markets. When times are good, people invest in stocks. When stocks get risky, people invest in corporate bonds. When corporate bonds get risky, people invest in municipal bonds. Now for the first time in history the investor’s standard, Moody’s, has rated the entire US local government system “at risk.” Again, that is the entire $2.6 trillion US municipal bond sector rated in danger of collapse. After municipal bonds, the next safest investment is US Treasury bonds, but how safe is the US Treasury with this administration bailing out all their friends? Are you buying gold yet? Many are and again that fact speaks to trust or the lack of it in Obama.
Why has Obama not operated his presidency with the transparency he promised? He failed to provide PDF versions of bills before Congress rushed to vote on them. In fact, American distrust of Obama is in part a hang-over from President Bush, but most specifically from Congress.
Congress is responsible for the failure to regulate as required and authorized by existing law. It has long been the job of Congress to regulate the mortgage, banking, and insurance industries. That is the core of the current economic crisis. When will there be an independent prosecutor assigned and funded by government to investigate this Congressional failure? Don’t hold your breath.
Is Obama two faced, secretive by nature, or the “Manchurian Candidate” average Americans have worried about for years? He seems to have come from nowhere overnight to become President of the United States of America. How did it happen? Who paid for his campaign – really.
Americans know nothing of Obama’s college records: admission, grades, writings, or teaching. All of those documents have been sealed at his request. Obama has spent millions to hide the full and complete record of his birth and early childhood. In fact, there is no proof that Barack H. Obama is not a bastard child born to an underage woman as a result of statutory rape. His self-authored account of his heritage and childhood is not confirmed and could well be pure fantasy.
Ms. Orly Taitz, a California attorney working through Defend Our Freedoms Foundation on several cases challenging Obama, said she was presented with an opportunity to ask a status question of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia March 9, 2009.
Taitz said, "I prepared myself to a lot of booing, however there was no boo-ing, no negative remarks," she said. "I actually could see a lot of approving nods, smiles, many gasped and listened intensely. I could tell that even Obama’s strongest supporters wanted to know the answer.”
"Scalia stated that [Obama’s eligibility case] would be heard if I can get four people to hear it. He repeated, you need four for the argument. I got a feeling that he was saying that one of these four that call themselves constitutionalists went to the other side," Taitz said. "He did not say that it is a political question, he did not say that it is for the legislature to decide. He did not say that Quo Warranto is antiquated or not appropriate. No, just get four," she said.
She then bought Scalia’s book and waited in line to get it autographed. "I gave him the books to sign and asked, ‘Tell me what to do, what can I do, those soldiers [her plaintiffs] can be court-martialed for asking a legitimate question, who is the president, is he legitimate.’ He said, ‘Bring the case, I’ll hear it, I don’t know about others.’"
The Supreme Court today is considered to have mainly a 4-4 conservative-liberal split, with one swing vote on most issues. On the conservative side generally are Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Samuel Alito, Scalia and Justice Clarence Thomas. Justice Anthony Kennedy often is the swing vote. The liberal side frequently includes Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter and John Paul Stevens.
The American Constitution provides for “check and balance” by establishing three different branches of government. Obama now controls two – the executive and the legislative. He can only control the court system if the court system allows him to do so, but at that moment America will no longer be a nation of free people living equally under the law. At that moment, America would be the fascist State of Obama. This is the fear that again challenges individual trust in our government.
Maybe the most kind explanation of this supreme delay is that one of the so-called conservatives fears a “game changing” situation just like the New York TimesACORN) which is tied to voter fraud in fifteen states during this most recent presidential election.

Unfortunately, they appear to be full-blown socialists propaganda pigs whining (or is that swine-ing) for the destruction of America.
Granted, it is much easier to write a compelling story on compelling need than it is to write about individual responsibility or the lack thereof. However, the only way government can care for us all is if they control all and that ends America’s grand experiment in representative democracy. That ends freedom. That ends all chance for great success, innovation and creativity, but it does create jobs for government workers and increases the need for domestic police state functionaries.
The last resort for our free people lies with individual states – at least in the best case until the next election. States can resist Federal authority and, in the last case, call for a Constitutional Convention to specifically limit the power of the federal government. Many hope that such a call is not necessary, but with Congress, the Presidency, the Courts, and media all failing … the American people rally in thousands of cities in numbers greater than has ever been seen so quickly in protest of what they believe is a pathetically incompetent disingenuous if not fraudulent president who within 100 short days has failed to become the leader of the free world.
Time tells all truth and it’s a shame our politicians spend so much of it to hide truth. Eventually, real “journalists” in the true meaning of the word will find publication and public attention as they write the “rough draft” of history.
Regardless, the truth will be known and only liars and the truly evil fight to prevent that exposure. Trust that.
