Applebee’s Susan G. Komen Fundraiser Raises More Than $70,000

Area patrons of Applebee’s restaurants surpassed a fundraising goal for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure by 76 percent.alt

Overall,  the 41-day event raised more than $70,000; the goal was $40,000.  

“We are thrilled our guests helped us raise such a large amount of money in such a short period of time,” said Michael Olander, President and CEO of Apple Gold Group. “Fundraisers like this for Susan G. Komen are just another way Applebee’s looks to support local non-profit organizations in their worthy endeavors.”

Guests who dined at any of the 21 Applebee’s in Oklahoma and Arkansas, owned by the Apple Gold Group, were able to donate a minimum of $1 to The Central Oklahoma, Tulsa and Arkansas Affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

For their generosity, guests were recognized with their name written on a paper Komen Running Ribbon hung prominently in the restaurant. The fundraiser ran from September 7th through October 18th, these dates coincided with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Race for the Cure in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, the organization has invested more than $1 billion to fulfill its promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
