BOK Center Ranks 8th In Ticket Sales

The BOK Center ranked No. 8 in the U.S. for ticket sales in 2009, according to Pollstar, a leading trade publication. The downtown Tulsa venue also ranked No. 20 in the world for sales.

“Once again, amazement is the word that comes to my mind” comments John Bolton, General Manager. “We have consistently ranked in the top 10 for the majority of the time we have been open.  We (SMG) celebrate this success with the Tulsa community and outlying areas…  the ticket buyers.”

Following are the 10 nationwide arenas for ticket sales:

   1. Madison Square Garden Arena  – New York, NY  – 977,868
   2. American Airlines – Dallas, TX – 567,657
   3. Allstate Arena  – Rosemont, IL  – 495,625
   4. Philips Arena  – Atlanta, GA  – 477,512
   5. Sprint Center  – Kansas City, MO  – 448,961
   6. HP Pavillion – San Jose, CA – 430,753
   7. St. Pete Times Forum  – Tampa, FL  – 423,565

Part of the arena’s success was based on bookings, with the BOK hosting 18 of the top 20 concerts or bands.

“We have had almost every major concert that is touring," Bolton said. "The two out of the twenty we did not book yet are U2 and Coldplay.  U2 was a stadium only tour and Coldplay just played Oklahoma City.”
