TULSA, OK. – Tulsa’s newest sports franchise is one step closer to taking the court. Tickets for the Tulsa Shock’s inaugural season will go on sale Thursday, April 8 at 9 am. The Shock is a member of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and they will begin their season on Saturday, May 15 at the BOK Center when they host the Minnesota Lynx. The Shock will play 17 home games, including nationally televised games against the Phoenix Mercury (May 25) and Los Angeles Sparks (July 13).
The league is entering its 14th season and will field 12 teams. The Shock, led by former University of Tulsa and University of Arkansas Head Coach Nolan Richardson, will be competing in the WNBA’s Western Conference along with the Seattle Storm, Los Angeles Sparks, Phoenix Mercury, San Antonio Silver Stars and Minnesota Lynx. The Eastern Conference includes the Atlanta Dream, Indiana Fever, Washington Mystics, New York Liberty, Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun.
