Jack White is nothing if not a very busy man. It seems that he has his hand in a little bit of everything, including another new band. From White Stripes to The Racontuers to The Dead Weather he continues to churn out new music with a new edge.
The Dead Weather, fresh from headlining Coachella this past Saturday, bring their raw act to 423 N. Main St. Cain’s Ballroom, Thursday, April 22, 2010.
Good news is they are in town, bad news is the show is sold out.
The Dead Weather, formed in Nashville, TN in 2009. Composed of Alison Mosshart (of The Kills and Discount), Jack White (of The White Stripes and The Racontuers), Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stoneage) and Jack Lawrence (of The Racontuers and The Greenhornes), The Dead Weather debuted at the opening of Third Man Records Nashville headquarters on March 11, 2009. The band performed live for the first time at the event, immediately before releasing their debut single "Hang You from the Heavens" from the album "Horehound."
Now with a new release dropping May 11, 2010, "Sea of Cowards" and tour to boot it is a big time in TDW camp.
Most noticeable is Jack White on the drum kit, not as you would expect, on guitar and vocals. Instead, giving way to Alison Mosshart on lead vocals and Dean Fertita on lead guitar. Not to worry though, they fill those shoes quite admirably. The band is full of heavy-weight talent, Grammy winners, and multi-platinum sellers.
It will be an amazing night of what can be called punch drunk blues mixed with garage rock. If you are one of the lucky ones that has a ticket, you will love it. If not, hey there is always eBay or craigslist. You may just get lucky.
