HUNTSVILLE, AL— The Tulsa Talons wrapped up their 9th straight division title and first since moving to the AFL with a 61-48 victory over the Alabama Vipers on Saturday night.
The Talons overcame a 14-0 deficit at the end of the first quarter to rally for the win, pulling even at 28 on a 35 yard strike from Justin All Good to Roderick Green at halftime. In all, Justin Allgood threw 25 completions on 40 attempts for 310m yards and six touchdowns, and Green caught 9 balls for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jeff Hughley also caught two touchdowns and 9 passes for 111 yards.
On the ground Odie Armstrong added yet another rushing touchdown to his record setting year, carrying the ball 8 times for 42 yards. Defensively the Talons were superb, forcing the Vipers to cough up the ball four times. They also intercepted Alabama quarterback Tim Hicks twice. The quadruple threat of , Terrell Mingo, Gabe Nyenhuis, Jamar Ransom and Chris Royal made life very difficult indeed for the Vipers offense, combining for 18 unassisted tackles between then, with Mingo leading the way at 7 unassisted stops.
The Talons return home to face the Arizona Rattlers in the last regular season home game next Saturday night at 7:05pm in the amazing BOK Center.
