River Spirit Casino at 81st and South Riverside Dr will open the doors to it’s new Event Center on Tuesday, August 24 and will be welcoming rock and film legend Meat Loaf.

Meat Loaf, born Marvin Lee Aday, has had a wild run in his life.  From movies to TV shows to his on again, off again music career he has managed to remain a constant in almost every aspect of the entertainment business.  Bat Out of Hell has sold more than 40 million copies and continues to sell at a rate of 200,00 copies annually and stayed on the charts for 9 years.  This after 30 years from initial release.  A hefty feat for any artist.

He has appeared in over 50 movies and TV shows sometimes as himself, or as characters resembling his stage persona. His most notable roles include Eddie and Dr. Scott in the American premiere of The Rocky Horror Show, Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Robert "Bob" Paulson in Fight Club, Tiny the bouncer in Wayne’s World, Dennis the Spice Bus Driver in Spice World, and Jack Black’s father in Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (a character who, ironically, hates rock music and believes it to be evil). Meat Loaf starred as police detective Jack Morris in The Hallmark Channel original film Citizen Jane.

In the midst of all his work Meat has also managed to complete his rock opera trilogy with the additions of Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose. 

One thing is for sure, Meat Loaf is never one to slow down or not take risks in his life.  He is also one that is known to give everything he has to his craft.  In the early days of his career he was known to collapse back stage after a show and need an oxygen mask to help recover.  People would literally step over him and go on about their business knowing that this was the norm.  This show should be no different.  You can bet that Meat will be leaving it all on stage and opening up this new venue right.

Joining Meat Loaf for this show will be his daughter, Pearl.  We are getting lucky here in Tulsa to have her booked again.  She was to play a show earlier in the year at The Other Side club, but the show was canceled due to construction and parking issues at the venue.  So Pearl is geared up to put on a heck of a show and with her dad’s rep for pulling out all the stops, you can count on her to have taken her lessons from him and give it all she has also.
