Art of Barbecue steps up to the plate at ONEOK Field

Hot on the heels of the BOK Center’s Rock & Rib Fest comes the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa’s annual Art of Barbecue Festival. Art of BBQ debuts at ONEOK Field from 4:00 PM until 11:00PM on Friday, September 24 and from 11:00AM until 4:00PM on Saturday, September 25.

The Art of BBQ is one of Oklahoma’s most popular contests with more than 45 nationwide barbeque teams of corporate, professional and backyard BBQ connoisseurs competing for cash and other prizes, including $1,000 for the Grand Championship. The winner of the competition will attend the National Championship Cook-Off in Kansas City sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.

Featured activities at the Art of Barbeque will include live music Friday night from Mid Life Crisis Band, as well as a great line up of BBQ and ballpark treats, team greetings, wine tastings and giveaways.

Admission for the event is only $2.00, but children, ages 12 and under, will be admitted free of charge. Family entertainment will include 4 inflatables and the TD Williamson Kids Zone playground area. On Saturday, the People’s Choice taster kit will be available for patrons. For only $10.00, attendees will be able to sample all the delicious barbeque from the competitors and vote for their favorite. Live entertainment will be featured from 11:00 AM until 3:00PM on Saturday as well.

The Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa’s mission is to bring the arts to all through inspiring creativity, fostering appreciation, promoting lifelong learning, enhancing the quality of individual lives, and contributing economic vitality to the greater community.
