WICHITA, KS.— The Tulsa Oilers fought hard, but they can’t seem to catch a break.

The Oilers traveled to Wichita after a heartbreaking last-second loss to the Colorado Eagles Friday night to face The Thunder for the third time since opening night. The Oilers were hoping to regroup and get back in the win column for the first time since October 16^th.

Once again, the team fell short. They trailed for most of the game and pulled even early in the third period, but the tie only lasted two minutes before the Thunder pulled ahead. An empty-net goal by former Oiler Aaron Davis sealed the win for Wichita with only 9 seconds left in the game.

AJ Gale and Steve Kaunisto scored in the first period for Wichita, and Gordon Bell put in a shorthanded marker in the second period for the Oilers. A goal by Mike Beausoleil would tie the game early in the 3^rd period for Tulsa at the 6 minute mark, then Chris Falloon would give the Thunder the game winner at the 8:06 mark. With Oilers goalie Tyler Sims on the bench, former Oiler Aaron Davis sealed the win for Wichita .

The Oilers outshot the Thunder 28-18, with Sims stopping 14 shots. Former Oiler Marty Magers got the win stopping 26 shots. Both teams cap up empty on the power play. The loss drops the Oilers to 2-4-1 with 5 points, tied with the Laredo Bucks for fourth place in the Berry Conference. Wichita won for the first time over Tulsa this season and rise to 2-4 in last place in the Turner Conference.

Both teams will face each other again on Sunday afternoon in the amazing BOK Center at 4”-5pm. The game will be preceded at 12:30pm with a game featuring the Tulsa Rampage junior B team taking on the El Paso Rhinos.
