TULSA, OK– The Tulsa Talons announced Thursday that they signed former Oregon Ducks wide receiver Brian Paysinger to the roster for the 2011 season.
Paysinger was a two-year starter for the Oregon Ducks (2006 and 2007). He is best known in this part of the country for his game winning touchdown reception against the University of Oklahoma during the controversial non-call game in 2006 in Eugene.
The former Mr. Football candidate in high school in the state of California was 3rd on the team in receiving during his junior season with 34 receptions for 451 yards and 3 scores. His senior season and 2nd as a starter was off to a promising start with 9 receptions for 165 yards before a knee injury ended his college career after just a few games.
“I’m extremely excited about signing Brian for the upcoming 2011 season. Brian is a big time Wide Receiver, from a big time program up in Oregon. With his combined size, speed and ability I look for him to put up huge numbers for our team this season. I know Talons fans are going to love watching him on the field this year,” said Talons Head Coach Mitch Allner.
Jamar Ransom Inked for 2011 Season.
On October 26th, the Tulsa Talons of the AFL announced today Linebacker Jamar Ransom has re-signed to play with the Talons in 2011.
Ransom, a member of the Talons since 2006, made the All-AFL 2nd team in 2010 while leading the Talons in tackles with 92, 58 of them being solo. In arena football having a linebacker lead a team in tackles is rare because the ball is thrown so often. However, due to his speed and tenaciousness, Ransom is always around the ball. He also finished the season with 6 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 2 defensive touchdowns.
The Oklahoma State product was a major part of the Talons goal line offensive as well. He often ran the ball or was a target out of the backfield for Talons’ quarterbacks. Ransom finished the season with 4 offensive touchdowns.
“Jamar has been the heart and soul of our defense the past couple of years. His knowledge of the game and intensity on the field is something that is difficult to find. He is basically the quarterback of our defense and we’re going to count on him to bring along some of the younger guys that we will have this season. It’s great to know number 44 will be back this year,” said Talons Head Coach Mitch Allner.
The Tulsa Talons will open their home schedule on March 28, 2011 against the Arizona Rattlers in the amazing BOK Center. Information on season tickets can be obtained by calling the Talons office at 234-1000.
