TU selects Blankenship

The University of Tulsa went looking for a head football coach and in the end, he was just down the hall. TU has named Bill Blankenship as its next head coach. 

Blankenship was a TU assistant and former head coach at Union high school where he won several state championships. Blankenship also a three time letterman for Tulsa from 1975-1979 as a quarterback.  

Bill Blankenship In his 4th year as an assistant at TU, this year responsible for the outstanding special teams play. Blankenship also associate head coach and running backs coach. 22 years as a high school coach in Oklahoma including stops at Edmond Memorial, Spiro, Sapulpa, and Eastwood Christian School.

His most famous stop was 14 years at Union high school running up a 154-26 record with 14 playoff appearances, 10 trips to the quarterfinals, 9 times in the semifinals and seven championship games, winning three.

Bill ands his wife, Angie have three sons, two played at TU. Oldest son, Josh, played quarterback at Tulsa before finishing at Eastern Washington. Caleb was an all-conference tight end at Tulsa, while his youngest son, Adam, played at Illinois State.
