ASEZ WAO: Route 66 Centennial Cleanup

ASEZ WAO, a young adult volunteer group from the World Mission Society Church of God, is partnering with the City of Tulsa Parks and Recreation to host a community cleanup in honor of the 100th anniversary of Route 66.

The event will take place on April 19th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza, a historic and symbolic location along Route 66. Volunteers will focus on graffiti removal and general cleanup efforts to help restore and preserve the site.

This initiative aims to bring the community together to care for one of Tulsa’s most meaningful landmarks while celebrating the legacy of Route 66. Organizers hope the event will inspire greater community involvement and pride in maintaining local history.

ASEZ stands for “Save the Earth from A to Z,” which means “Save the world from the beginning to the end.” WAO stands for “We Are One Family.” Put together, ASEZ WAO means “Let us save the earth from the beginning to the end as one family.”

ASEZ WAO is known for its ongoing volunteer efforts that promote environmental care, community unity, and service. Through this event, they are calling on Tulsa residents to come together in a united effort, working as one to restore and protect a meaningful part of the city’s history.

Tulsa residents can simply come to Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza during the event time to join. All cleanup supplies and equipment will already be provided on site by the City of Tulsa Parks and Recreation.
