Carly Fiorina, the third outsider

Carly Fiorina, GOP Candidate for President

Carly Fiorina, GOP Candidate for President

Given that 75 percent of Americans think current government is corrupt, perhaps a bold outsider is the right person at the right time. Carly Fiorina’s articulate, focused, and fearless performances in the Republican debates elevated her from an also-ran to a real contender. Although there are no voting records to peruse, her current positions are consistent with those during her 2010 run against incumbent Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA). But whether Fiorina will make a good president is the relevant question.

Leaked memo: Obama might circumvent injunction

ImmigrationObamaIan Smith writing for TheHill.com reveals today a newly leaked internal DHS memorandum produced for an off-the-record agency conclave which reveals that the Obama administration is actively planning to circumvent a federal court injunction that suspended part of last November’s deferral-based amnesty initiative.

The Republican National Committee has pulled out of a planned Feb. 26 debate with NBC News after widespread criticism of this week’s CNBC debate from both the party and campaigns.

“CNBC network is one of your media properties, and its handling of the debate was conducted in bad faith,” Priebus wrote. “I have tremendous respect for the First Amendment and freedom of the press. However, I also expect the media to host a substantive debate on consequential issues important to Americans. CNBC did not.”

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Upon the Republican leadership’s passage of the Obama-Boehner Budget Deal, a backroom agreement to grow our nation’s debt and bust responsible budget caps, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) a Republican candidate for president issued the following statement after voting against what he described as a reckless bill:

“Pay no attention to another roughly $80 billion in debt. Pay no attention to the fact that it is the Republican-controlled Congress giving an unlimited credit card to Barack Obama, scheduling votes at 1 o’clock in the morning, and hoping that no one notices.
