VANCOUVER, B.C.—Legacy fans of the Tul;sa Roughnecks hold a special place in their hearts for Vancouver, British Columbia as it was there, in 1983, the Roughnecks of the North American Soccer League defeated the Toronto Blizzard 2-0 to earn the original club it’s only world championship and Oklahoma it’s only major league title in any sport.

The Roughnecks of the USL made their first trip north of the border on Friday to take on the Whitecaps 2 and it was a tight match through the first 45 minutes.  Both teams had quality chances in the first half but outstanding goaltending kept the score knotted at nil at the break.

The Jason Christie era has officially begun for the Tulsa Oilers hockey club.

Christie was selected to replace Bruce Ramsay, who departed the Oilers last month to become the assistant coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League (AHL).  Christie, 46, becomes the 11th head coach in Oilers franchise history after spending the past four seasons as the head coach of the Ontario Reign.

TULSA, OK—The Tulsa Shock’s six game home win streak ended on Sunday afternoon and a losing streak extended to two when the Minnesota Lynx and Washington Mystics handed the Shock a pair of losses during a tumultuous week of developments with the franchise that didn’t involve basketball.

On Sunday afternoon, the Shock suffered their first home loss on Sunday afternoon when Maya Moore and the Minnesota Lynx came into town and handed them their first home loss downing them 79-72 in front of 5,987 in the BOK Center. Lynx superstar Maya Moore scored 32 points and nabbed ten rebounds for Minnesota in a game that saw the Shock control most of the first half, only to collapse in the third quarter after an ominous prediction by Shock head coach Fred Williams came true.

It’s official: Shock will move

Loyal fans greatly disappointed.

On Monday Tulsa Shock majority owner Bill Cameron announced that the team will be relocating to Dallas at the end of the season.

The announcement confirms the rumors that has been circulating for a week now.

Cameron stated that it was a “difficult decision” but it was a necessary one to ensure the team’s long term financial success.

“I am thankful for the support we have received from the city of Tulsa, Mayors Taylor and Bartlett, local fans and sponsors over the last six years. I appreciate the Tulsa investors who stepped up at a critical time to help me bring the Shock to Tulsa from Detroit in 2010,” Cameron said.

Shock fall to Fever

ShockWNBLINDIANAPOLIS, IN—Even with their injured teammate Skylar Diggins in attendance the Tulsa Shock fell just three points short of defeating the Indiana Fever, falling 83-80 in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

Riquna Williams led all scorers with a remarkable 31 points, attempted to send the game into overtime in the games dying seconds, but the ball clanged off the rim and out and the Fever held on for the narrow victory.
