Roughnecks fall to Portland

Roughnecks15dTULSA, OK—The Tulsa Roughnecks FC returned to USL league play on Saturday night taking on the Portland Timbers 2 at ONEOK Field.  The Roughnecks were returning to regular league play after being knocked out of the Lamar Hunt United States Open Cup competition by the Oklahoma City Energy on Wednesday night in the 82nd minute.

The Roughnecks(3-4-2) were in search of their third straight victory on Saturday night, having claimed wins over the Orange County Blues (1-0 on May 13) and the Austin Aztex (1-0 on May 16).  Portland entered the game 3-4-2 in USL league action having fallen twice to Seattle on May 26th and 27th.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation has certified new state fishing records for alligator gar and bigmouth buffalo.

About 5 p.m. April 25, 2015, angler Allen Bynum of Ardmore was bowfishing in Lake Texoma in Love County when he shot a new state-record bigmouth buffalo. The fish was 43 inches in length and 33 3/4 inches in girth.

TULSA, OK— It is truly win or go home now.

A costly mistake, combined with a controversial goal early on threw off whatever mechanism the Oilers used to solidly defeat the Allen Americans on Friday night as the team in red snatched a 3-1 victory on Saturday night.

The total on the scoreboard matches the Allen lead in the first round series, which shifts back to Allen for what could be a deciding game four tonight at 7pm in the Allen Event Center.

TULSA, OK— It wasn’t quite a do-or-die, but after watching a four goal lead over the Allen Americans evaporate before their eyes on Wednesday night in Texas, the Tulsa Oilers had to play like it was to restore faith in themselves and in their fans.

That’s exactly what they did as they held the Americans to a single goal to triumph over the division champions 5-1 in front of 2,607 in the BOK Center. Jon Booras got the home side on the board first at 5:50 of the first period when he went five-hole (between the legs) of Allen goaltender Riley Gill to give the Oilers the early lead. Booras took a crossing pass from Tommy Mele and slid the puck through Gill and into the net.

ALLEN, TX—The Tulsa Oilers are in trouble.

After two games and the fifth and sixth consecutive losses to the final champions of the Central Hockey League, the Allen Americans now hold a 2-0 lead over the Oilers as the series shifts back to Tulsa for games three and four and the potential end of the 2014-15 season for the Oilers.
