TULSA, OK—The Tulsa Oilers defeated the Brampton Beast 4-2 in front of 10,794 in the BOK Center on Friday night, their largest crowd of the season and one of the largest since the team moved from the Cox Business Center in 2008.

Kyle O’Kane began the scoring for Tulsa when he skated in on Brampton goaltender Grant Rollheiser and slipped the puck in between the goalie and the post to give the Oilers a 1-0 advantage just past the midway point in the first period.

Revolution still alive

TulsaRevolutionLogo2TULSA, OK.— They haven’t played a home game since the beginning of December.

They haven’t won a game since the middle of November.

The fired their coach and they moved out of the downtown Cox Business Center arena, which was their home since last season and forfeited a game last weekend against Chicago.

Despite all that, the Tulsa Revolution indoor soccer team are not folding.

INDEPENDENCE, MO.—The Tulsa Oilers didn’t get off to a great start in the second half of the season on Friday night as they fell to the Missouri Mavericks 4-2 in an ugly, penalty-ridden contest.

The two clubs had not seen each other in action since December 6 and even with nearly two months elapsed from that game (a 2-1 loss for Tulsa), there was no love lost.  A testy tone was set shortly after the opening faceoff as Tulsa captain Nathan Lutz leveled Mavericks winger Andrew Courtney.

Deer harvest up overall

OkWildlifeDeerPreliminary data from the Oklahoma Wildlife Department’s online E-Check system show that hunters reported harvesting more than 98,500 deer in Oklahoma through Jan. 15, the last day of deer archery season. But it appears hunter success was much better in certain regions of the state than in others.

Erik Bartholomew, big-game biologist for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, said E-Check data from early December suggested that the overall statewide deer harvest was running about 10 percent higher compared to the same time last year.

The Patriots used under-inflated footballs on Sunday night. The next question is how did it happen?

According to a National Football League letter about the investigation into the controversy that was shared with the Boston Globe, the Patriots were informed that the league’s initial findings indicated that the game balls did not meet specifications.
