INDEPENDENCE, MO—Fresh off an exciting win over the Allen Americans on Friday night, the Tulsa Oilers hopped on the bus and traveled to the Kansas City Suburb of Independence, Missouri to take on the Mavericks for the fifth time this season on Saturday evening.

Defeating the Mavs has been a daunting task for the Oilers this season, and having finally taken a game from them in their barn back on November 21st, they hoped the curse was broken.

Oilers battle Allen

The Oiler have been seeing red a lot lately. The red of the jersey of the Allen Americans, and the red of the lights above the goal on their end of the rink when they score. As mentioned previously, they are a big team, they are a skilled team and if you are chasing them on the scoreboard generally speaking, they will be very unforgiving.

Such was the case in the final two games of their seemingly endless series that was begun prior to the Thanksgiving holiday and concluded on Friday night.

Although a Big 12 football championship isn’t at stake in Saturday’s Bedlam contest in Norman, it should still be an interesting matchup for both teams.  If the Sooners, 8-3 overall, 5-3 in conference win, they could possibly enhance their bowl destination and still have a shot at another 10-win season.  For OSU, 5-6 overall, 3-5 Big 12, win and become bowl-eligible.  Lose, and their season ends on Owen Field.

Trout Season is in full swing!

NORTHEAST

Ft. Gibson: Elevation above average, water 44 and clear. Crappie fair around docks and brush structure on minnows and tube jigs at 15-20 ft. Blue, channel and flathead catfish fair in river channel and main lake on live shad and cut bait at 15-20 ft. Report submitted by Rick Stafford.

TULSA, OK—The Allen Americans are a good hockey team. No question about it and arguably one of the more balanced teams in the ECHL and most certainly one of the most talented. They were a powerhouse in the old Central Hockey League and one of only three teams to repeat as champions of that league back to back, in the final two seasons of that league. They will punish any team that falls behind them in a game, and that is exactly what happened in Tulsa.
