TULSA, OK—The Tulsa Oilers played the Missouri Mavericks and Wichita Thunder this weekend (Friday and Sunday nights respectively) and they wound up going 1-and-1, with both exciting games ending in the overtime/shootout conversion. In fact, the Oilers have yet to play a game to its regulation time conclusion on the home side of their schedule this season.

Thunder falls short in opener

PORTLAND, OR—The Oklahoma City Thunder had a great game going through three quarters on Wednesday night in Portland. The Trail Blazers were stymied in every possession and as the fourth quarter dawned, it look as if the Kevin Durant-less Thunder might have themselves an opening night victory on the road in in the Moda Center.
Oklahoma City could not sustain in the fourth quarter however, and saw the lead that they had built going into the fourth quarter quickly evaporate. The Trail Blazers passed and eventually topped the Thunder 106-89.
Wichita flawless against Oilers

WICHITA, KS.—The two-game win streak for the Tulsa Oilers ended on Wednesday night when Thunder goaltender Tim Boron made 27 saves to lead his team to a 2-0 decision.
Alex Bourret and Todd Hosmer were the heroes for the Thunder, who used a 5-on-3 early on in the second period to secure their first goal from Bourret at the 7:05 mark to give the home side the lead, and in the third period Hosmer managed to have his puck squirt through the pads of Oilers goalie Kevin Carr to put in the game winner for Wichita at 9:05.

Caig a hero in OT for Oilers

TULSA, OK—With just 65 seconds remaining before the end of overtime Oilers forward T.J. Caig found himself in the clear in front of Wichita goalie Tim Boron’s net. The 33-year old forward from Kelowna, BC then buried the puck behind Boron to end the 251st meeting between Tulsa and Wichita, (and their first in the ECHL) with a 6-5 overtime victory in front of 7,744 in the BOK Center on Sunday night.
