Mayfest visual and performaing artists announced

The 40th annual Tulsa International Mayfest, which will be held May 17th – 20th in downtown Tulsa, released yesterday its list of over 100 participating Juried and Market Artists and complete performing artist schedule.

Festival guests will have the opportunity to purchase artwork from artist booths along Main Street during the festival.  “We have a great group of artists this year,” said Heather Pingry, Executive Director.  “There truly will be something for everyone, no matter your budget or taste.”

Visual artists are accepted into Mayfest after a highly selective jurying process. Fine art in a variety of mediums, including everything from clay to wood, is represented. Additionally, the Mayfest Market is comprised of artists and craftsmen that usually feature items such as toys, folk art, calligraphy, etc.  The names, mediums and artwork examples of each participating artist can be found at www.tulsamayfest.org/attraction_category/artists/.

After enjoying the visual artists, don’t forget to check out the four stages of performing artists.  Mayfest 2012 features 100 performances throughout the festival.  Stages are located on the Williams Green, 4th & Boston, Bartlett Square and KidZone.  For a complete schedule, visit www.tulsamayfest.org/performances/.  All concerts are free and open to the public.

Tulsa International Mayfest is a family friendly outdoor tribute to the arts and music created to promote a broader knowledge of and appreciation for arts and humanities among serious, as well as casual art lovers.

More than 350,000 people are expected to attend this year’s event, celebrating 40 years of Mayfest, on May 17-20, 2012.  For more information, visit  www.tulsamayfest.org.
