Tickets start at $85 and go on sale July 5.
Since breaking through in 1981 with “Planet Earth,” Duran Duran has released 36 singles, including the global hits “Girls on Film,” “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Rio,” “The Reflex,” “Notorious,” “Ordinary World” and “Is There Something I Should I Know?” In 1985, the band’s recording of the James Bond theme song “A View to a Kill” became the first and only Bond theme to peak at No. 1.
Duran Duran is comprised of vocalist Simon Le Bon, drummer Roger Taylor, bassist John Taylor and keyboardist Nick Rhodes.
A big reason for Duran Duran’s quick rise to global success was the creative direction of their music videos, which single-handedly transformed the platform from a gimmicky marketing tool into one of the music industry’s most valued assets. The band became the first to shoot on location and the first to cast supermodels. The clip for “Girls on Film” was so controversial it was banned by both MTV and the BBC, but earned a 1983 Grammy for best video, short form. They also won for best video album.
In 2011, Duran Duran released their 13th studio album, “All You Need Is Now,” which was produced by Mark Ronson. As part of the release, the band returned to its roots and released a star-studded clip for “Girl Panic!” The clip was helmed by acclaimed director Jonas Ackerlund and featured supermodels Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford and Eva Herzigova as the band members. The video also features model Yasmin Le Bon, wife of the lead singer.
There are currently in excess of 100,000 web pages dedicated to the band. For more information, visit www.duranduran.com.
