Military and overseas voters will get a chance to use a new online ballot delivery system for the June 24 Primary Election, Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said.

Federal and state laws require ballots be made available electronically for military and overseas voters. Oklahoma has previously complied with the law by allowing those ballots to be sent via e-mail.

The new system, called Oklahoma Military and Overseas Ballots Online, streamlines the process by allowing voters to log in via a secure link to download ballots instead of receiving them by e-mail. Ballots can be marked before they are printed or filled out by hand. Completed ballots can then be returned by mail or fax.

“This is a great step forward in giving our military voters better, faster access to their ballots while maintaining ballot security,” Ziriax said. “I encourage everyone who is eligible for this program to give it a try.”

Oklahomans who are in one of the uniformed services of the United States or who live or work overseas and use the Federal Post Card Application to request absentee ballots are eligible to receive their absentee ballots through the new system.

The new system also allows military and overseas voters, including those who still receive their ballots by mail, to track whether their ballot has been received by their county election board.

The system is in place statewide, and those who have already signed up to have their ballots delivered electronically have been sent an e-mail explaining the new system.

Eligible voters who have not signed up to receive ballots electronically can do so by filling out a Federal Post Card Application at www.FVAP.gov/oklahoma and submitting it to their county election board. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the June 24 Primary Election is 5 p.m. on June 18.
