Highly-decorated Tulsa Police Officer, Sergeant Luke Sherman, is proud to announce his candidacy for Tulsa County Sheriff. Sherman is a lifelong Republican and a 23-year veteran of the Tulsa Police Department.
“My entire career has been devoted to providing the people of Tulsa with the most professional law enforcement service possible,” says Sherman.
“In every facet of my experience and leadership, my focus has always been on professional and effective public safety. As the leader of the Tulsa county sheriffs office, I believe I can implement and carry this mission forward.” Sherman added.
Sgt. Luke Sherman has received numerous awards and commendations for his work with the Tulsa PD. He currently leads the Fugitive Warrants Unit and is one of the leaders with the U.S. Marshals Violent Crimes Task Force working with law enforcement agencies throughout Tulsa County.
Sherman has been an integral component in a majority of Tulsa homicide investigations since 2008. Sherman also played a pivotal role in providing expertise to both the U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress on topics such as the Ferguson Riots and the militarization of police forces.
Among his priorities as Tulsa County Sheriff, Sherman has a specific plan to improve operations at David L. Moss Correctional Center, a plan to enhance the quality of police service to our communities, and a plan to create a new standard of transparency with the public.
“Although change is good, it has to have substantive purpose to be worthwhile,” Sherman says. “We must have clearly defined goals with a tangible way to measure our progress. These are challenging times for Tulsa County and the people expect their public safety leaders to be bold and confident in their duty to protect and serve. I want to use my unique skills, training and experience to serve my community and restore pride and confidence in the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.”
