Kunzweiler wins Tulsa County DA

The Aloft hospitality room rocked Tuesday night as Steve Kunzweiler announced that his opponent in the race to replace Tim Harris as Tulsa County District Attorney had called to concede the contest. The hotly fought, litigated and widely debated race was over.

With his family beaming beside him, Kunzweiler said, “Every day we fight battles for Tulsa County. Every day we get up — even though it’s going to be a tough job — we get up and we do the job for the people. I am so proud of my Tulsa County DA family.

While both candidates are talented public servants and friends, the District Attorney race shows a significant difference in approach to the office critical for voter consideration.

Both candidates, Fred Jordan and Steven Kunzweiler are talented attorneys.

However, Jordan’s focus is outward in leadership of the community. Kunzweiler is primarily focused on the objectives of the office – prosecution of criminals.

TPS struggling to accomodate Hispanic growth

Tulsa’s Fox 23 has reported an interesting and timely study that notes nearly one third of all students in Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) are Hispanic, and speak Spanish at home.

District leaders, like Laura Grisso, the Title 3 Director for TPS, told Fox 23’s Michelle Linn a lot of the growth is happening at schools like Skelly Elementary, in east Tulsa.

Jenks pulls OKC Bombing video

The video in question, “Oklahoma City Bombing Conspiracy,” is a product of The History Channel and until the current school year has been an optional part of the Oklahoma History curriculum at Jenks.
