Federal Grand Jury criminal indictments

TulsaJusticeTULSA:  The results of the September 2015 Federal Grand Jury were announced Friday by Danny C. Williams Sr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

The following individuals have been charged with violations of United States law in indictments returned by the Grand Jury. The return of an indictment is a method of informing a defendant of alleged federal crimes which must be proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt to overcome a defendant’s presumption of innocence.

Rogers County voter deadline for school election

VoteMachineFriday, September 19th, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the October 13th Special Owasso School Election, Rogers County Election Board Secretary Julie Dermody said today.

Dermody said that persons who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 18 years old may apply to become registered voters.

Provost to Lead Workforce & Training Development

Dr. Brett Campbell, currently Provost at Tulsa Community College’s Southeast Campus, has been named Vice President for Workforce Development and Provost.

Campbell will assess workforce needs in Tulsa County and collaborate with area employers and workforce agencies to establish training programs and academic curriculum to prepare TCC students for future employment opportunities.

AccuWeatherFall15AccuWeather meteorologists suggest as fall of 2015 unfolds that an already brutal wildfire season will continue across much of California and the Northwest. In contrast, the rain will continue at times in the Southwest even after the monsoon fades in early September.

An expected strong El Niño will lead to beneficial rain for Southern California, but it may be delayed until late fall and winter; meanwhile, flooding and mudslides will threaten the Four Corners region, in addition to some mid-fall snow.

Wet weather is forecast to unfold across the south-central United States after a drier second half of summer, even spreading into the Southeast and mid-Atlantic at times. Farther northeast, a dry autumn is in store for leaf-peepers while the neighboring Midwest will face some chilly conditions.

Susan Harris is the Tulsa Community College Foundation 2015 Vision in Education Leadership Award recipient. She will receive the award at the TCC Vision in Education Leadership Award Dinner 7 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 24 at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa. The 2015 Vision Honorary Chair is Don Walker and Susan Neal serves as the Dinner Committee Chair.

Harris is being honored for her exemplary service to Tulsa’s progress in education in her role as Senior Vice President of Education and Workforce Development at the Tulsa Regional Chamber. Many community leaders consider her to be our ‘education engineer’ providing the inspiration, initiative and implementation behind every major education funding initiative or decision made in Tulsa over the course of two decades from higher education to common education.
