WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, delivered the following opening statement today at the hearing, Examining the Role of Environmental Policies on Access to Energy and Economic Opportunity.
Witnesses include Father Robert A. Sirico, president of the Acton Institute; Major General (Ret.) Robert Scales, senior military analyst; Alex Epstein, president for the Center for Industrial Progress; Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson II, director for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Office of Public Witness; and Michael Breen, president & CEO of the Truman National Security Project.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) Wednesday introduced legislation fighting the Obama administration’s Operation Choke Point, a Department of Justice (DOJ) effort that unconstitutionally sought to choke off access to banking services for sellers of firearms and other lawful business enterprises. This legislation sponsored by Sens. Cruz and Lee serves as a companion bill to U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer’s (R-Mo.) Financial Institution Customer Protection Act (H.R. 766), which passed the House with bipartisan support in February.
