BOK Center #12 venue in US, #32 in world

ArenaRains4Over seven years after opening, BOK Center continues to maintain its status as one of the world’s busiest concert arenas. Friday Pollstar announced their 2016 First Quarter Top 100 Arena Venues based on ticket sales and the BOK Center finished #12 in the United States and #32 in the world.

BOK Center was also the highest ranked arena in the continental United States managed by SMG, the Philadelphia-based venue operator that manages over 230 facilities,  nearly 70 arenas, and over 1.75 million seats worldwide.

Run Free to premiere in Tulsa

RunFreePoster“Run Free: The True Story of Caballo Blanco,” a feature-length documentary about ultra-running legend Micah True, will screen at the B&B Sapulpa Cinema 8 in Sapulpa, OK, on Sunday, March 20 at 5 p.m. The one-night-only event is sponsored by the Tulsa Area Trail & Ultra Runners (TATUR).

Micah True, better known as Caballo Blanco – the White Horse – was the focal character of Christopher McDougall’s 2009 best-selling book “Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen” about the Tarahumara Indians of northern Mexico. Also known as the Rarámuri, or Running People, they are some of the best long-distance runners in the world.

Country superstar Brad Paisley performed in Tulsa recently, bringing his “Crushin’ It” World Tour to the BOK Center.

Plain and simple, Paisley is a bona fide “Star” with impressive versatility, durability and clearly one who doesn’t take himself too seriously, as evidenced with hit songs like “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” “Celebrity” and “Ticks.”  On the other hand, he is able to seamlessly transition to a more poignant tune like “Whiskey Lullaby.”

Iron Maiden takes Tulsa by storm

Iron Maiden frontman and Ed Force One pilot Bruce Dickinson opens the show Friday at the BOK Center.

For the first time in approximately 30 years, Iron Maiden returned to Tulsa much to the delight of legions of their loyal fans.  Although their show was at the BOK Center on Friday night, make no mistake, Iron Maiden owned the last weekend in February in Tulsa, beginning Thursday when the band’s plane, Ed Force One touched down at Tulsa International Airport, greeted by  hundreds of fans just wanting to see the landing.

Their arrival was covered by local media – beyond entertainment media.  Many fans were also at the airport Saturday afternoon to see the plane take off, heading to Las Vegas for the next stop on the band’s “Book of Souls” world tour.

Yes, Tulsans really follow Iron Maden.

NatureWorks event bonus for Bassmaster fans

BassMasters16The NatureWorks Art Show and Sale will welcome Bassmaster fans to view the artworks of more than 50 of the nation’s top wildlife, western and landscape artists and sculptors March 5-6 in the ballroom of the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center, 6808 S 107th E. Ave. (near U.S. 169 and East 71st Street).

“We are extremely excited to share what has become a landmark Tulsa event with visitors coming from across the country to attend the Bassmaster Classic,” said Pete Messler, art show director. “People travel from across the state and region each year to view the unique lineup of art and to meet the artists from 23 states at our show.
