Rogers County Fair celebrates 100 years

RogersCountyFairMetropolitan residents and visitors worldwide are welcome to join in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Rogers County Fair.  Will Rogers would be proud of the event set for September 11 – 14 at the Claremore Expo Center with no admission or parking charge.

The carnival and midway will open Thursday and Friday 6-10 pm, Saturday 1-10 pm and Sunday 1-5 pm. There will be rides for children of all ages! Wristbands are available for all-you-can-ride each night for $20 or individual tickets as guests may select.

Wine Tasting to benefit Prevent Blindness OK

Youth may apply for bonus deer hunts

DeerAntilerlessYouth1Beginning young hunters will have a chance this fall to participate in bonus antlerless deer hunts that will take place on private lands in four Oklahoma counties.

Youths may submit applications for the hunts that will be held Oct 3-5 in Osage County; Nov. 7-8 in Ellis County; Oct 17 (with orientation Oct. 16) in Love County; and Nov. 21-22 in Carter County.

Pow Wow set for early August

PowWow14aThe Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa (IICOT) will host the 37th annual Pow Wow of Champions August 8, 9,10, 2014 at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center and everyone is welcome.

The Mabee Center will come alive in a colorful expression of dance, drum music and song as members of tribal nations throughout the country gather together to honor, strengthen and share traditions and with each other and the general public. The dance, spectator area, will be held in air conditioned comfort. Over 300 dancers, dressed in full Native American dance clothes will participate throughout the weekend in ceremonies and dances, including Grand Entries, intertribal dances and dance competitions.

American Theatre Company presents a comedic romp into the world of the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons with the show, “She Kills Monsters.”

“In a time before Facebook, Worlds of Warcraft, and multiplayer online RPG’s, there once existed simply a game, Dungeons and Dragons. Forged by the hands of nerds, crafted in the minds of geeks, and so advanced it would take a whole second edition to contain all its mighty geekery…. Here in the land of Ohio during the year of 1995 one of the rarest types of geeks walked the earth.”
