Museum Babies offers art education

MuseumBabies1For some infants and toddlers, their first art experience goes well beyond finger painting and crayons through an art education program called Museum Babies at Gilcrease Museum.  The program affords parents the opportunity of viewing priceless works of art, coupled with child development activities for their children. This unique experience nurtures the needs of both parent and child.

The partnership between Tulsa Community College Child Development Program and Gilcrease Museum gives parents and/or caregivers the opportunity to visit the museum twice a month.  TCC Child Development students plan and coordinate activities and playgroup exercises as part of an academically based service learning project.

Native film to play Tulsa

MTFBsmHolt Hamilton Productions has announced the Tulsa Premiere of the hilarious and award winning film More Than Frybread that will play at Circle Cinema November 21st in celebration of Native American Heritage Month.

The film tells the fictional story of the First Annual Arizona Frybread Championship competition between the twenty-two Native American Tribes that reside within the state of Arizona. The twenty-two Nations each send their local champion to represent their nation and compete for the coveted title of ‘Arizona Frybread Champion’. The film closely follows five individuals from the Navajo, Hopi, Yavapai-Apache, Hualapai, and Tohono O’odham Nations as they journey from their homelands to the state championship.

How much do Oklahomans love Carrie Underwood? Too many ways to count for most of us and that affection only deepened as she and Brad Paisley ripped into ObamaCare during their 2013 CMA Awards opening on Tuesday. Country girls have brass and brains.

The pair kicked off a rant about the faulty Affordable Care Act website after the country crooner “injured” himself “twerking.”

Duck season now open statewide

DuckHuntingDuck hunting season is now in full force statewide with the opening of Zone 2 this past weekend.

Josh Richardson, migratory game bird biologist for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, said waterfowl numbers “look very good” this year, although slightly down from the last two record-setting production years. In addition, improved habitat conditions over much of the state as a result of drought relief should have a positive impact on duck hunting.
