Tulsa’s Josh Brakhage ‘Jeopardy’ hot streak continues

Tulsa television news producer Josh Brakhage claimed $20,006 in his fourth consecutive JEOPARDY! victory today, increasing his total winnings to $69,611.

The 29-year-old South Coffeyville, Okla., native will play again on tomorrow’s episode of America’s Favorite Quiz Show® in an attempt to add
to his prize money and become a five-game champion.

JD McPherson tonight at Cain’s

Tulsa’s own rocker JD McPherson will be at Cain’s Ballroom tonight.

Cain’s (Tulsa’s Timeless Honky Tonk) is located at 423 North Main Street in Tulsa. Showtime is 7:00 pm, and tickets are priced at $15.00 for general admission, and $25.00 for the mezzanine. Tickets can be purchased from Ticketfly.

2012 was a remarkable year for JD McPherson: his debut LP, Signs and Signifiers was released to rapturous reviews, and was the most-played album of the year on Americana radio.  Most industry insiders expect 2013 to be even better.

Darell Christopher returns to Jazz Hall

After years touring Europe, native Tulsan Darell Christopher is bringing his veteran vocal styling back to the Jazz Depot January 20th at 5:00 p.m.  An accomplished gospel, jazz, and R&B vocalist, and actor Christopher is a graduate of Holland Hall, The University of Tulsa, and Leadership Tulsa.  Christopher earned his Masters degree in Theology from Phillips Theological Seminary.

As Darell Christopher notes, just about every song ever written has a story behind it. But when he and his band kick off their Sunday show with Marvin Gaye’s “People Get Ready” at the Jazz Depot, the tune will carry a special resonance for the accomplished Tulsan.
