Cougars too much for TU

TUfootballHouston15aTULSA, OK—A crowd of 17,146 saw the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane fall to the Houston Cougars 38-24 on Saturday afternoon. Both teams were opening conference play in The American and looking for their first win.

The Golden Hurricane were defeated last week in Norman when the OU Sooners handed them a 52-38 loss. The Cougars came into the game sitting on a perfect 3-0 record, with their last game defeating Texas State 59-14.

Offense shines as OU defeats Tulsa, 52-38

OU running back Samaje Perine is stopped for no gain by TU’s defense.

Many observers figured offense would be on display Saturday when the Tulsa Golden Hurricane squared off with the Oklahoma Sooners Saturday in Bob Stoops’ 100th home game at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, and no one was disappointed, except possibly the defensive coaches for both teams.

The two teams combined for 70 first downs and 1,376 total yards, 863 coming in the first half.

It’s over: Tulsa Shock

ShockPhoenix4TULSA — The great WNBA experiment in Oklahoma is officially over.

The Phoenix Mercury showed why they have three championships under their belts as they dominated the Shock in all aspects of the game on Saturday night and handed the Shock a 91-67 loss in front of 3,261 in Tulsa’s BOK Center.

The Oklahoma All-Stars captured the PGA Junior League Golf South Regional held over the weekend at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow. They now advance to the PGA Junior League Golf Championship Nov. 5-8, held this year at Disney’s Palm Course at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

They’re in: Tulsa Shock playoff preview

ShockMascottUsually, when a team clinches a playoff berth their fans are filled with excitement at the prospect that their team might have a shot at a potential championship. After all, as the many clichés about the post season will tell you, it is the second season, every team is at 0-0, and all the rest of that rot.

That would be fine and dandy for any other team but the Tulsa Shock.

No matter how the 2015 WNBA season ends for the team, they will not be the Tulsa Shock anymore. It has been played out time and again that this is the final season for the WNBA in Tulsa no matter how deep Fred Williams and his team ply through the playoffs. It doesn’t matter whether or not they bow out in the first round or raise the championship trophy at the end of September they are done and bound for the Dallas suburb of Arlington for 2016 and beyond.
