(Tulsa, Okla.) – Street School received a grant from Women Impacting Tulsa Grantmaking Fund (WIT) to assist with the school’s therapeutic counseling program. WIT Chair Courtnie Tidwell and Tulsa Community Foundation Program Coordinator, Jane Ziegler presented a check to Street School’s Executive Director Lori McGinnis-Madland at the school on Monday in the amount of $6,750.
WIT is a group of professionals, community leaders, advocates, mothers and volunteers all behind the idea that women working together will make a difference in the Tulsa community. The group collectively pools their money and distributes annually to Tulsa nonprofit agencies through a competitive grant process. The group began in 2010 as a partnership between the Tulsa Community Foundation and the Tulsa Area United Way.
“WIT is thrilled that Street School was selected as one of three grant recipients. This is a strong program that impacts Tulsa and makes a difference in the lives of at-risk youth,” said WIT Chair, Courtnie Tidwell.
“Our therapeutic counseling services are what sets us apart from other alternative schools across the nation,” said Executive Director Lori McGinnis-Madland.
“Funding this aspect of our program allows us to help our students continue a down a successful path,” McGinnis-Madland added.
