Today River Parks Executive Director Jeff Edwards is taking on a challenge that no rider has attempted at Turkey Mountain: 110 miles of mountain bike riding in a single day. (No joke!)
Edwards will attempt this incredible task as part of the “One Tough Turkey” fundraising event. He hopes to raise funding support from those who have pledged a dollar amount per mile to fuel his mission and to rally the Tulsa community behind the future BOK Hub Visitor Center at Turkey Mountain.
The BOK Hub will be the gateway to the mountain – a home for education, community events, trail stewardship, programming, and a meeting place for the thousands of visitors who explore Turkey Mountain every week. With trail construction complete and visitation at an all-time high, this is the moment to invest in the infrastructure that will sustain and elevate the experience for generations. Join us, cheer Jeff on, and help transform every pedal stroke into progress.
Mr. Edwards will begin his mountain bike ride from the new West Parking Lot at Turkey Mountain. He’s expected to be joined on occasion by several other local and regional riders. In order to reach his goal of 110 miles in 1 day at Turkey Mountain, Jeff will be riding an 11-mile loop at least 10 times throughout the course of the day. Jeff will suffer, but the pledges received by River Parks are what turn every mile into momentum for the next era of outdoor recreation in Tulsa.
“The BOK Hub will enhance the Turkey Mountain experience and provide a space for the community to gather, connect, and enjoy the outdoors,” said Jeff Edwards, Executive Director of the River Parks Authority. “While fundraising efforts are ongoing before we can break ground, this donation launches a project that will change the future of Tulsa and Turkey Mountain.”
