TU football to battle new conference members

Conference USA announced today the Football Divisions for the 2013 conference season as well as home and away games for each league school for the upcoming football campaign.

The 2013 Conference USA East Division will consist of East Carolina, FAU, FIU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss and UAB. The West Division is made up of Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, UTEP and UTSA.

U.S. to proceed with F-16 delivery to Egypt

As the U.S. began delivery Tuesday January 22 of F-16 aircrafts to Egypt; U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of Senate Armed Services Committee, expressed concern for U.S. State Department’s response to his request to delay F-16 delivery.

“President Morsi has failed to promote promised democracy in his country and neglected to continue Egypt’s legacy of maintaining peace in the region,” said Inhofe.

Netanyahu:Nation still wants me

In a critical election during a time of war and near-war in much of the Middle East, The Jerusalem Post is reporting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Wednesday afternoon that elections show the country wants him to continue to lead, but repeated his pledge to build the widest coalition possible.

Netanyahu told reporters that the coalition he will put together will deal with greater equality in carrying the military burden, institute cheaper housing and government reform.

Tulsa’s own rocker JD McPherson will be at Cain’s Ballroom tonight.

Cain’s (Tulsa’s Timeless Honky Tonk) is located at 423 North Main Street in Tulsa. Showtime is 7:00 pm, and tickets are priced at $15.00 for general admission, and $25.00 for the mezzanine. Tickets can be purchased from Ticketfly.

2012 was a remarkable year for JD McPherson: his debut LP, Signs and Signifiers was released to rapturous reviews, and was the most-played album of the year on Americana radio.  Most industry insiders expect 2013 to be even better.

Governor Fallin honors Martin Luther King, Jr.

Governor Mary Fallin today attended a ceremony honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

The ceremony concluded with the governor joining local children in ringing a replica of the Liberty Bell (picture attached).

Fallin released the following statement regarding Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:

“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached compassion, love and respect for all mankind. These are enduring principles and values that are just as important today as they have ever been.

“Please join me in taking a moment to honor Dr. King and all of those who helped to deliver equal civil rights to all our citizens, and who did so non-violently in the face of tremendous adversity. We are a better nation and a better people for their service and sacrifice.”
