Mars had lakes

A NASA spacecraft is providing new evidence of a wet underground environment on Mars that adds to an increasingly complex picture of the Red Planet’s early evolution.

The new information comes from researchers analyzing spectrometer data from NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which looked down on the floor of McLaughlin Crater. The Martian crater is 57 miles (92 kilometers) in diameter and 1.4 miles (2.2 kilometers) deep. McLaughlin’s depth apparently once allowed underground water, which otherwise would have stayed hidden, to flow into the crater’s interior.

Holder begs Court to stop document release

Attorney General Eric Holder and his Department of Justice have asked a federal court to indefinitely delay a lawsuit brought by Judicial Watch. The lawsuit seeks the enforcement of open records requests relating to Operation Fast and Furious, as required by law.

Judicial Watch had filed, on June 22, 2012, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking all documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious and “specifically [a]ll records subject to the claim of executive privilege invoked by President Barack Obama on or about June 20, 2012.”

Legislation safeguards Second Amendment rights in Oklahoma

Sen. Nathan Dahm has filed three proposals to protect the Second Amendment rights of Oklahomans to keep and bear arms.  Dahm said the Constitution provides clear protections to gun owners, but if lawmakers are not diligent, those protections can easily come under attack by proponents of big government.

“Oklahomans understand that the right to keep and bear arms is intrinsic to our cultural identity,” said Dahm, R-Broken Arrow.

Coulter on mental health and guns

Updated:  Ann Coulter in a recent column posted on WND.com suggests “Crazies need to be committed, not given civil-rights protection.”

Coulter is correct as usual.  Insightful, articulate, passionate, merciless in debate and stunningly attractive; she hits the target dead center:  “Guns don’t kill people, the mentally ill do.”

Coulter then goes through the details and specific signs that could have prevented so many tragic deaths in massacre of unarmed innocents if only America had a functional and responsible mental health profession.  Would someone please explain why “mental health professional” is NOT an oxymoron as currently practiced in 2013 worldwide?

Assault on 2nd Amendment draws fire

Today the Obama administration rolled out an aggressive series of proposals for new gun control measures.

The proposals include: an assault-weapons ban, expansion of background checks for all firearms buyers and limits on high-capacity ammunition clips.

Today’s press conference featured 23 executive orders aimed at tightening federal control over gun rights.
